About the Role
As a Technical Lead at IQWorks, you will own the technical direction of our platform and lead the engineers who build it. You will architect and ship across a modern web stack while setting the standards for code quality, security, and delivery that the team builds around. You will stay hands-on: writing code, reviewing pull requests, and making the architectural calls that keep a fast-growing product coherent. You will work directly with the founders and product to turn roadmap into shipped software, and you will mentor and grow the engineering team as the company scales. This is a high-ownership role for someone who leads from the front and cares as much about how software is built as about what it does.
What You Will Do
- Own the architecture and technical direction of the IQWorks platform
- Lead by example — write production code, review pull requests, and set engineering standards for quality, security, and performance
- Design and enforce strong security and data-isolation practices across the platform
- Break roadmap into well-scoped technical work and drive delivery across the team
- Mentor engineers, run code reviews, and raise the technical bar as the team scales
- Partner with product and founders to shape what gets built and make pragmatic prioritization calls
- Own reliability, observability, and the health of production systems
- Establish and improve engineering processes — CI/CD, testing, release management, and documentation
What We Are Looking For
- 6+ years of software engineering experience, including time leading a team or owning a significant part of a product
- Deep proficiency building and shipping modern web applications end to end
- Strong command of TypeScript, with proficiency (or the ability to quickly become proficient) in a backend language such as Go or Python
- Experience designing and building on relational databases, including schema design and data-security practices
- Solid understanding of authentication, authorization, and secure application design
- Experience shipping and operating production systems on cloud infrastructure
- Track record of setting engineering standards and mentoring other engineers
- Ability to stay hands-on while leading — you still write and review code
- Effective use of AI as a force multiplier across the engineering workflow — designing, writing, reviewing, testing, and shipping — with sharp judgment about where human oversight is essential so quality is never compromised
- Strong communication skills and comfort working directly with product and founders in a fast-moving startup
Nice to Have
- Experience building multi-tenant SaaS with strict data isolation
- Familiarity with data privacy, security, compliance, or governance domains
- Experience integrating AI features into production products
- Experience across both frontend and backend systems
- Prior experience as an early or founding engineer at a high-growth startup
