About the Role
As a Lead Platform Engineer at IQWorks, you will own the infrastructure and delivery platform the entire product runs on. You will build the CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, reliability, and observability foundations that let the team ship quickly and safely, and you will own performance, scaling, and cost as usage grows. A distinctive part of this role is delivery beyond the cloud: packaging the platform so enterprises can run it inside their own environment, on-premise and at the edge, without sensitive data ever leaving their infrastructure. You will stay hands-on — writing infrastructure code, automating operations, and debugging production — while setting the platform standards and paved paths the whole engineering team builds on. This is a high-ownership role for someone who treats reliability, developer experience, and clean operations as products in their own right.
What You Will Do
- Own cloud infrastructure end to end — provisioning, networking, scaling, and cost efficiency, all defined as code
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and release automation so the team ships quickly, safely, and often
- Own reliability and observability across the platform — monitoring, alerting, logging, incident response, and clear SLOs
- Design repeatable, low-touch on-premise and edge deployments so enterprises can run IQWorks in their own environment with data that never leaves it
- Improve developer experience — local environments, build and preview pipelines, and internal tooling that keep engineers fast
- Own performance and scale — capacity planning, load testing, and tuning as data volumes and customers grow
- Partner with security to harden the platform — secrets management, least-privilege access, and safe-by-default infrastructure
- Set platform standards and mentor engineers on infrastructure, deployment, and operational excellence
What We Are Looking For
- 5+ years in platform, infrastructure, DevOps, or SRE roles, including time owning production systems at scale
- Strong experience with cloud infrastructure and infrastructure-as-code
- Hands-on experience with containers and orchestration, CI/CD pipelines, and release automation
- Solid grasp of reliability practices — observability, alerting, incident response, and SLOs
- Experience packaging and deploying software into varied or customer-controlled environments (on-premise, air-gapped, or edge)
- Proficiency automating and scripting in a language such as Go, Python, or TypeScript
- Effective use of AI as a force multiplier across the platform workflow — writing infrastructure code, automating operations, and triaging incidents — with sharp judgment about where human oversight is essential so reliability and security are never compromised
- Strong communication and the ability to work directly with engineering, security, and founders in a fast-moving startup
Nice to Have
- Experience running multi-tenant SaaS with strict data isolation and predictable performance
- Background delivering on-premise or air-gapped enterprise software to large organisations
- Familiarity with data privacy, security, compliance, or governance domains
- Experience with database operations — backups, tuning, and zero-downtime migrations
- Track record of driving down cloud cost while improving reliability
- Prior experience as an early platform or infrastructure hire at a high-growth startup
